I’ve always loved paisley! It’s such a  fun, colorful, and groovy print!  And I’m wild about this Black Artisan Paisley print on these new J. Jill Printed Rayon Full-Leg Crops!

Inspiration

I just caught a bit of a travel special about Marrakech recently and it gave me some inspiration for this look … the rich colors and patterns, the dangly gold earrings, the straw hat … Has anyone ever been to Morocco? I think I need to go!

The Star – J.Jill Rayon Full-Leg Crops

J. Jill does it again with a July collection full  of flattering, high quality, and easy-to-wear pieces.  I’m already a big fan of their cropped pants (love these) and this new print is just luscious!  Also, I sized down this time around, from a S to a XS, and they still are plenty comfy. J.Jill tends to run large, so I’d suggest going at least one size down. Oh, and won’t this print transition nicely into fall when the time comes?!

No doubt you’ve been seeing palm print everywhere. Do they make you happy? They make me feel vacation-y … always a fabulous feeling!

Palm Print Wrap Skirt

This pretty wrap skirt, another huge trend, is even more spectacular with the lovely green and white palm print. I love the fresh resort feel of this look.  Have you worn a wrap skirt recently?  I noticed in a few photos, I’m showing more leg than I had planned on, especially when I walked.  You can play around with how tight you wrap the top and where the opening goes.  But hey, a little leg in a resort-friendly look is kinda nice too.  Especially when I prepared my legs with some Sally Hanson Airbrushed Leg Makeup!

The Location

Unfortunately I wasn’t on vacation wearing this look, but I did get to have a quick meet up with Cathy of Bay Area Fashionista for some photos and girl chat at Santana Row, a local hot spot. I also got to go pick up a gift card for winning Santana Row’s photo of the month contest, also thanks to Cathy!  Always nice to have a little extra spending money!

Denim Shirt

J. Jill Tencel Soft Indigo Sleeveless Shirt is one of my latest go-to basics.  I love J.Jill for the classic easy-to-wear styling and the high quality at a reasonable price.  This shirt is such a great length and the extra stitching on the bottom adds a fun touch, along with making the top skim flatteringly over my hips! I’m wearing an XS, so I would suggest sizing down when you order J.Jill.

For this day of running errands and tackling a long do-do list, I paired this Tencel shirt with my comfy Old Navy kick flares, Clarks sandals for lots of walking, a colorful tote to carry everything in, and some fun jewelry to add visual interest.

Okay Ladies, here it is … my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale dressing room round up!! When bloggers hit the dressing rooms … look out!!

In this shot, Cathy of Bay Area Fashionista has on the Hinge tie sleeve blouse, … so cute and comes in four patterns/colors. I’m wearing the Chelsea 28 Bell Sleeve Poplin top. Both tops are super cute, on trend, and true to size!

So this Halogen sweatshirt with the laces on the sleeves was totally cute and comes in more colors too. (Side note: can’t find link. Maybe it’s sold out?  I’ll add in link when it comes back in stock). If you’re between sizes, size down, this is an XS! I’m about a 2/4 on top.

Also, loving these KUT Catherine BF jeans! Perfect fall basic, comfortable and true to size (I’m wearing a 6).

Well, I think my face says it all. I’m sure this little Chelsea 28 t-shirt with tulle sticking out the side will be adorable on somebody. But not me!

Bell Sleeve cozy fleece pullover is cute and comes in lots of fab colors.  But I’m wearing an XS and it’s huge, so size down!

This is the J. Crew Regent houndstooth jacket.  I couldn’t find a size 4 so I grabbed the size 6 jacket. It’s a bit large on me as it should be. Beautiful quality and flattering cut!

Love this cute Pleione tie sleeve sweatshirt!  Comes in six pretty colors! I bought it in the “Red Chili.” Runs big, size down (I’m wearing the Petite XS here!)!. Also remember to tie the sleeves before you put it on. LOL.  And these are some great flattering basic jeans, Barbara Stretch bootcut NYDJ, dark wash (Sinclair).  I’m wearing a 4 (always size down one size for NYDJ).

Loving these spilt hem jeans!  Any excuse to show off cute shoes, right?!  This are from Wit & Wisdom and called Ab-Solution (hello, tummy control!) split release hem. True to size, comfy, and very flattering.  (Big booty approved!)

I was keeping an eye out for a long gray cardigan and ended up with this one from Halogen. Loved the texture and the length.

This cozy Leith cardi was a close second.

Billabong wrap dress, a real wrap, not faux.  It was a little too low cut for me, but I bet I could pin it.  Super pretty. True to size.

This Topshop Spliced Poplin shirt is very cute, but the length is pretty cropped on my 5’7″ frame. And loving the Hayden busted knee BF jeans, also a Topshop find.

Such a cute gray suede jacket from Blank NYC!  Three fab colors!  I might have to come back for this! This is an XS, but I’d probably get a S to wear over sweaters.

The time has come …. the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to EVERYBODY on Friday 7/21!  To celebrate, I thought I’d share with my readers everything I bought!

Starting with this look ….

The Most Flattering Jeans Ever

So first of all, I’m in love with these amazing Wit & Wisdom jeans.  Super cool with the raw split hems, perfect for showing off cute sandals now and cute boots soon!  These jeans also have a wonderful secret … ready for it?  They have a tummy control panel and booty lifting technology!  I may never take them off!

Cold-Shoulder Sweater

I always am loving this trendy twist on a classic black turtleneck.  Don’t the cold-shoulder details make it special?  I’d say it’s lightweight enough to wear now on a cool evening.  Also comes in navy, red, and burgundy!

The Earrings

So a friend of mine (yes you, Lynn!) told me that I could use these earrings as weapons or chopsticks!  LOL.  Well, that makes them very versatile, right?  Loving the modern look and the silver and gold mix. I actually wanted several other things by Argento Vivo from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but limited myself to just these beauties!

So, I went back to Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to get more dressing room selfies.  I know some of my readers don’t have easy access to a Nordstrom and they want to see how the clothes look and fit.  I got a request to see more dresses and career wear, so I did my best and tried on everything I could find.  It was a bit frustrating because so many styles and sizes were sold out already at our local store.

This Vince Camuto dress was such nice fabric and a great length, but I could only find a 10 to try on, so it’s too big. Isn’t the hot pink shade pretty though?

This pretty Ce Ce off-the-shoulder floral chiffon dress might have been a winner for me in a size small, but I could only try on a medium. However I loved the pretty print!

This little cold shoulder Eliza J. fit and flare dress was one of my favorite.  The fit and flare silhouette is universally flattering, and especially kind to a pear-shape figure like mine.  My only complaint was the length, but that’s my usual complaint anyway. (I prefer to cover my knees if possible.)  I would totally wear this though in the fall with tights and boots! And it comes in four luscious colors! I’m wearing a size 4 and it fits like a dream.

This Maggy London dress was on point!  Love the pretty floral print and the bell sleeves.  The sheath cut is not super flattering on me and again I couldn’t find the right size (this is a 10), but on the right figure with the correct size, I think this dress is totally a winner!

I think this little black and white number was my favorite dress of the day and of course it was also an Eliza J fit and flare. I’m wearing a size 4.

So these trousers from NYDJ were my favorite pants of the day.  The fabric is really nice, thick and stretchy, but not clingy, with lift-tuck technology! They are a great pair of slacks for work and come in black and gray, as well as the navy. I’m wearing a 6, so I’d say they are true to size. And I’m wearing a high quality Nic & Zoe jacquard sweater in a small.

These NYDJ black knit pants were also really nice. Love the little zipper detail on the ankle.  I’m wearing an 8 in the pants and a medium in the pretty Halogen bell sleeve sweater, so both were too big on me. I think a 6 and a small would’ve been perfect, so I’d say they run true to size.

Here I’m wearing the Treasure and Bond blazer in a small.  I can’t say I liked the feel of the fabric or the cut too much to be honest.  I did like this pretty blouse by Caslon (linking the plus size because that’s all I can find right now. Maybe they are temporarily sold out? I’ll keep you posted.) Fab fall colors, right?  I’m wearing an XS and it’s perfect.  These plum jeans are also Caslon and I think they run a bit small. I’m wearing a 30 and usually I wear a 28.

These Halogen charcoal pinstripe pants are a good career basic.  These were a size 8 and too big. I think the size 6 would’ve been perfect and so it’s true to size.

Loved the colors of this Paige flannel shirt!  It was a bit pricey, but the fabric was really nice and so soft.  This is a small and I think it fit the way a flannel shirt should, right?

This cute tweed jacket is a large and I’m swimming in it, but isn’t it pretty?  And I think this Halogen pleated skirt would make a great work skirt, comfortable and modest. I’m wearing a medium which is too big, but I think the small would fit perfectly and so runs true to size.

Sorry if me modeling all the wrong sizes is frustrating!  It was frustrating for me for sure!  But some of these items are spectacular and everything is selling out, so I would grab what you want from the sale soon, Ladies!  Remember prices go up August 7th. Though the sale items were well picked-over in the store, the trip was still tons of fun!  Cathy of Bay Area Fashionista came along with her adorable 11 year old daughter.

The Skirt

Love the length of this skirt and that it has pockets!  It buttons all the way up the front, so if you wanted to add some sex appeal you could leave some buttons undone!  It also comes with a cute sash for the waist, but with the knotted tee I didn’t think I needed it here. Runs small, size up one!

It’s always exciting to meet someone you’ve admired and yesterday I got a chance to meet talented fashion designer, Alexander Michael Snyder!  If you’re a Project Runway fan, you’ll remember Alex from last season.

Alexander was kind enough to let me try on this dreamy fit and flare coat, lovingly nicknamed “The Beast” for it’s substantial weight! Isn’t it AMAZING?!

I became a fan watching Alexander in Season 15 of Project Runway, but he has been part of the fashion world for much longer than that.  He showed a collection at New York Fashion week in 2009, and along with being a talented designer, Snyder understands the business side of fashion as well. Originally from the East Coast, Alex came out to San Francisco to go to school for his Masters of Fine Arts degree and decided to stay. He’s intrigued with integrating technology with his creative visions and of course Silicon Valley is the perfect place to explore that!  Alexander also shares his experience with others, mentoring new designers and teaching classes at The Art Institute.

So, how did I get a chance to meet him? Well, I asked!  And Alexander warmly welcomed me into his design and manufacturing studio, sharing with me all his stunning creations.  I so enjoyed chatting with Alexander. We both share an affinity for the fun of fashion! I also admire that the AMS collection is size-inclusive. Alexander firmly believes that women as sizes and ages deserve to feel beautiful.

Who is Alexander’s customer?  He likes to describe his muse as an Upper East Side lady who isn’t afraid to get on a motorcycle. An upscale and classy lady with a rebellious streak … who wouldn’t want to hang out with her, right?

Following AMS_Atelier’s website, I’ve been drooling over the fall 2017 collection inspired by “The Hitchcock Blondes.”  I’m loving this feminine silhouette, paired with modern sensibility. The brand makes it’s own prints, and my favorite is the modern twist on classic houndstooth pattern, giving it a dreamy MC Escher-eque feel. And can you believe Alexander gave me a scarf in my favorite pattern?  I’m over the moon excited! What a sweetheart!

Okay okay, so I was totally trying to channel some Hitchcock Blonde in that last shot!

I will treasure this gorgeous scarf for years to come!  A huge thanks to Alexander for making me feel so welcome and for being so inspiring!

I wasn’t sure if this column silhouette was going to work on me, but the pattern and colors on this dress were so pretty that I had to give it a try. And? I loved it!  It felt easy, breezy … perfect for a vacation!  How cute are the braided strap details and the bow in the back?

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of spending two days at the Pala Casino, Spa & Resort, by San Diego.

The Pala Resort hosted a blogger’s event to show off their luxe facilities!  We all had such a blast checking out what Pala has to offer and getting to meet and hang out with each other.

The Room

I’ll start with the amazing room.  We had a deluxe room with a gorgeous view of the pool, the outside stage, and the stunning mountains!  I could’ve sat and enjoyed the view all day! The room was impressive with all the amenities, including a bathtub that I was sorry I didn’t get a chance to try out!

The Restaurants

The Pala Resort boasts ten different restaurants.  We had the pleasure of taste testing at The Oak Room and the Wine Cave.  The food is very high quality and tasty and the knowledgable staff will help you pair dishes with wine. And the atmosphere is charming and romantic!

The Pool and Spa

A large lavish pool invites a refreshing dip and pretty lounge chairs invite some loafing around! There’s also a spa where a knowledgable staff is happy to share their knowledge of skin care, along with giving spa treatments.

The Music Venue

The outside stage was a fabulous place to enjoy a concert!  With the sun setting and the mountains in the background, I can’t think of a better place to experience some live music.  We saw a very impressive reggae themed show, inlcluding Raging Fyah, Matisyahu, and UB40.

The Casino

And of course there was a fun casino, full of all the gaming you could want!

Conference Rooms

Planning a big event? The resort has a hall of beautiful conference rooms.  I also think I spotted a very pretty little grove, perfect for a wedding!

The Staff

Even though everything was wonderful, the biggest standout to me was the service we received!  Everyone was so nice and helpful, from the desk clerk to the restaurant staff, from the security guard to the events coordinator, we really couldn’t have felt more welcomed and taken care of.

Blogger Meet Up

It’s always exciting to meet other bloggers.  I finally got to meet Adrienne or The Rich Life in Wine Country and Tamera Beardsley after following their blogs for years, as well as connecting  with Debbie of To Thine Own Style Be True and Evelyne of Everything Evelyne. I wish I had had more to time to talk to and meet everyone! And a huge thanks to my buddy Rachel for going along for the ride, for being so fun, and for being such a good sport about taking so many photos!

If you’ve been following my coverage of the Pala Resort blogger event, you know we had a girl’s night out and of course we all dressed up!

Chico’s gave me this outfit to review. All opinions are all my own as always.

The Basics

To put together the perfect outfit, I began with some basics.  I started with slimming Brigitte Crops … yes, slimming (!!!) …. really they couldn’t be more flattering, with such nice fabric and a secret little tummy control panel.  I paired these with a wrinkle-free reversible tank just perfect for traveling.  You can wear it with the little scoop in front or back, for two different looks. (I’m wearing the scoop in front.)

The Poncho

Now it was time for the razzmatazz … I added this cool sheer poncho, with the prettiest black on white print, and fabulous details like cold shoulder opening and black tassels on the sleeves!  This piece flowed when I walked in the most delightful way!

The Earrings

And of course a night on the town (or a night at the casino!) always deserves a little bling bling.  These Estella Chandelier Earrings were the perfect touch.  (And on MAJOR sale right now … seriously, scoop them up. They’re not even heavy!)

With fall approaching, it’s time to think about boots and jackets … but boots and jackets that you can wear now too!

The Booties

Okay, so these Vince Camuto Split Shaft Suede Booties are just the bomb.  So cute and comfortable and on trend!  They’re part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale right now, but don’t forget this is the last week to get the deals (prices go up August 7th).  These booties come in this pretty gray, as well as black and a taupe shade (all perfect neutrals). I’m sure to be wearing these closet staples all fall with jeans, pants, skirts, and dresses!

The Jacket

This denim jacket with the lace up detail is such a fun update on the basic jean jacket!  The laces are black velvet and can be laced so that the ends hang out or tuck in. And if you’re feeling really creative, a trip to the fabric store will give you all sorts of possibilities for switching it up, right?  What do you think of plaid laces?!

My look of the week is Kellyann of This Blonde’s Shopping Bag. Not only is the styling adorable, but she’s wearing one of my fav phrases. I even have a poster of this hanging in my classroom!

Anyone else getting ready for back-to-school already?  Teachers? Parents?  My high school starts next week and I’m starting to have that back-to-school freakout that every teacher knows so well, complete with nightmares of uncontrollable children!

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you already know that I’m a big fan of Soft Surroundings.  They always have such cool pieces that are always high quality and oh-so-soft.

 Soft Surroundings gave me these items to wear, enjoy, and review.  All opinions are all my own as always.

I wore a lot of pretty Soft Surroundings pieces on my recent adventure to Pala Casino, Spa & Resort.

Found Paradise Dress

I fell in love with this little tie-dye dress.  It’s a great midi length and can be dressed up or down, and even worn as a swim cover up.  Not just for vacation, it’s also the perfect little easy breezy weekend dress.

Sealife Sandals

Aren’t these sparkly starfish sandals cute and fun?  They add a little vacation magic sparkle whenever you’re headed.

Lula Sunnies

These sunglasses are perfect for vacation.  They have 100% UVA/B protection, but aren’t so expensive that you have to worry about them.  Plus right now, they’re on major sale!

Santorini Gauze Pullover

And this tunic is also a great versatile piece. I wore it with stretch pants on the plane.  It would also make a cute swim suit cover up.  And I know I’ll be wearing it for teaching soon as well (with pants, not with a bathing suit!).

Siesta Key Tote

I’ve already gotten a lot of questions about this tote. It really is the perfect carry-all for a summer vacation!  I carried it on the plane at a tote, around the casino as a purse, and to the pool as a beach bag. It’s temporarily out of stock, but should be coming back in stock soon.  I’ll keep you posted!

Ah, it’s that time of year again …. all the stores and magazines are getting you ready for fall weather and fall clothing, but the weather is still strictly summer!

Karina sent me this dress to wear and review.  All opinions are my own as always.

What we all need in our wardrobe is a few transitional pieces to take us from one season to another.  I think Karina Dresses knocks it out of the park this season with this pretty print called Harvest Floral. It’s bright cheery yellow flowers speak both to summertime and autumn as well.  Wear the dress now with cute scrappy sandals and soon you can wear it with booties and a denim jacket.

As always this Karina dress is super flattering, machine-washable, wrinkle-free, and made in the US. As a teacher getting ready for back to school, I feel like I can never have enough Karina dresses in my closet. They are the perfect easy dress, always feminine, modest, and flattering. And they look fabulous wash after wash!
